Meditation on Forgiveness

Forgiving does not mean condoning. Forgiving does not mean denying that something wrong has happened. Beginning the process of forgiving means beginning the process of no longer holding onto anger and hurt.

This guided meditation on forgiveness {courtesy of Audio Dharma} is sometimes utilized as a preparation for lovingkindness (metta) practice

As you sit and breathe deeply, repeat these mantras to yourself three times each:

  • For whatever harm I have caused others, may they forgive me.
  • For whatever harm others have caused me, may I forgive them.
  • For whatever harm I have caused myself, I forgive myself.
